My lonely Saturday night...

I bought DVDs last night at my usual supplier, this shop at Wangsa Maju. Yeah, it's way off from where I stay now. I was contemplating on what to have for dinner. It r anged from the restaurants at The Curve all the way to Nasi Lemak Kelab Sulaiman, Kg. Bharu. In the end I settled for the Nasi Lemak or Char Kway Teow at Mali's, Taman Bunga Raya, Setapak. Have not been there for so long. Used to stay in that area. Anyways, it was drizzling a bit but should be alright. To my dismay, the que was so long and no empty tables. So, I headed out to buy my DVDs instead.

Bought 5 movies, The Queen, Then She Found Me, The Spiderwick Chronicle, The English Patient and Definitely, Maybe. I've only managed to watch The Queen and Definitely, Maybe. I quite like The Queen. Not so much about the storyline (it was alright actually) but the Queen herself, portrayed by Helen Mirren. She did a superb job and a very believable one. Even if Her Majesty herself is not actually like that, I would still want to believe so.

As for Definitely, Maybe, not that I didn't see it on the big screen. I just wanted to see it again. April oh April ! Love her character.

Back to my dinner plans on Saturday night. I ended up having dinner at this Chinese Muslim restaurant near Carrefour, Wangsa Maju. No, not Cheng Ho. The one before that. Cheng Ho is forever crowded. Either the food is really good or the service is unbelievable slow. Anyways, that was the second time I went to this restaurant. It is operated by this Chinese Muslim family from China. This time round they had a new dish, Beef Noodle Soup. What is special about this dish is that they make the noodle on the spot. And they prepare it in front of the shop for the world to see. It's delicious. You should try it. Oh, in case you're wondering, I had dinner alone.

So, that was my Saturday night. How was yours?

Sex and The City....

Hey peeps! How's the weekend so far? Mine's been okay apart from my missing family. Not actually missing, they're away. But I get me time of which I'm quite, quite enjoying it. Went to The Gardens yesterday morning to catch Hellboy II. Unfortunately the next available show was only at about 4pm. And the next show was Sex & The City. Tengok je lah. Yeah, I know it's a chick movie but I didn't regret it a bit. I was the only guy who came alone while the other guys all came with their partners. Anyways, it was entertaining and informative, from women's perspective. The storyline was simple yet good. It was pretty much like the series. It was good to see Carrie Bradshaw again. She has always been fascinating. But Samantha Jones has somehow aged too much. Not the hot hoochie mama she once was. Definitely waaaaaay better than X-Files.

It was unbelievably shitty...

Went to see The X-Files: I Want To Believe. Should have listened to the reviews and watched something else. But being a huge fan of the TV series and the first movie, I had to see it for myself how shitteous it was. Very dissappointing. Like what Takdekeje said, even an episode from the series is way better. And we had to endure it for almost 2 hours. There wasn't a slightest "X-Files" element in it. Like what the critics say, I really want to believe that it was good.

The weekend has arrived....

I am reporting live from Goldenbreak, Sunway, where I'm enjoying a few games of pool with Acha, Alan, Kadie, Sha and her husband Jamil. Have not done this for so long. Been sleeping early the whole week. My body clock is badly damaged. And there goes my diet too. Just had a full plate of Chinese Fried Rice. Burn, baby burn!!

Till then.... Have a wonderful weekend folks!

Kids nowadays...

I'm sure most have you went to kindergarten and back then (in the '80s or some, '70s), we only started learning our ABCs and numbers when we were 6 years old or even at Standard 1. Kindergarten was like play school for 3-4 year olds nowadays. I don't rememer bringing back any homework from kindergarten. Unlike pre-school nowadays, even 4 year olds have already homeworks. They may not look difficult but for kids at that age, it's like writing an essay. And homework is twice a week. WTF???? Not that I'm against it but it can get quite stressful for them.

For instance, Dinah has homework every Wednesday and Friday. Wednesdays are numbers while Fridays are alphabets. So today, she had to write the numbers 36 and 37 repetitively. That's one book. The other book is for writing these numbers in alphabet form, both in English and Bahasa Malaysia, repetitively, for about 4 to 5 lines. On top of that, she has to draw and colour 36 and 37 number of knives. Can you imagine how tiring that can be? And of course we will end up drawing the objects for her and she'll colour them. Otherwise, it'll take her till midnight to finish. Hmmm. Sometimes, I do tell her to continue the next day and submit it the day after but insists on finishing it. Good for her. At least she doesn't procrastinate at a very young age.

Here she is doing her homework and taking a break half way.

Till then...towards a better future for our kids.

"The calling"...

If you are an ardent fan of Ateen's blog, you would have read about her "transformation". She did it. Today was indeed her first step towards being a better muslimah. Alhamdulillah. And she never looked better. Must be the "nur" on her face. Or could it be a new product she's using? Wallahualam bissawwab.

Whenever we see or hear our friends turning into a new leaf, we can't help but wonder on when will our turn come. Right? Right. Should we wait for "the calling" or is the news a "calling" itself? I guess it boils down to our level of conscience. I'm no saint. I know the difference between right and wrong but do I actually follow the right path? Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Why? I have no idea. The normal excuse would be, "it's human behaviour". But again, why are we always attracted to the "forbidden fruit"? Even asking myself that question has somehow has shed some light on me to re-align myself, starting tomorrow. And when tomorrow comes, it's like any other morning. When will I ever learn?

Anyways, as long as we know what we're doing and where we're heading, we should be alright, for now.

Till then folks, have a lovely wee ahead.
